Pacifica Foundation’s Statement on the Killing of George Floyd
Pacifica Foundation is deeply saddened with the news of the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis last Monday. We share the sorrow of his family, friends, and the African-American Community.
In the face of prejudice and violence against individuals and communities of color, Pacifica Foundation condemns the individuals who caused the death of George Floyd and calls authorities to embed diversity, equity, and inclusion in the core practices of all of our institutions. Individuals who led to his death should be held accountable for their actions.
We are always and will be committed to uphold human rights and thrive for freedom and justice. No one should fear their skin color, ethnicity, race, views.
We would like to reiterate what Nelson Mandela said, “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
